Community access
Support participants to attend appointments, shops, community programs or other approved activities.
Yirra Care Careers
Join Yirra Care and help NDIS participants take part in daily life, community activities and personal goals across Brisbane.
We are looking for kind, reliable and skilled support workers who value choice, safety and clear communication.
About the role
Yirra Care support workers help NDIS participants complete daily tasks and take part in their local communities.
For example, you may support a participant to attend an appointment, visit a local service or complete an agreed activity.
In addition, some shifts may include help with daily routines, community access or social participation. However, duties always depend on the participant's goals and support plan.
Most importantly, each service must protect the participant's dignity, privacy and right to make choices.
Key duties
Each participant has different needs. Therefore, tasks can change between services.
Before a shift begins, Yirra Care will explain the agreed duties, boundaries and important safety information.
Support participants to attend appointments, shops, community programs or other approved activities.
Help with agreed daily tasks while encouraging choice, confidence and independence.
Support participants to join social, recreational or community activities that match their goals.
Provide safe transport when it forms part of the approved service and role requirements.
Complete clear service notes and report concerns through the correct Yirra Care process.
Follow risk information, support instructions, privacy rules and incident reporting steps.
Please note: The exact duties depend on each participant. Therefore, a role may not include every task listed above.
Application requirements
Some documents are required before a worker can begin certain NDIS services. However, requirements can change based on the participant and the duties.
Therefore, Yirra Care will confirm the final checklist during screening.
Important: A clearance or certificate does not guarantee employment or shifts. Yirra Care must also consider experience, availability, location and participant needs.
Our expectations
Support work is built on trust. For this reason, we look beyond documents and work history.
We also consider how applicants communicate, respond to feedback and protect participant choice.
Respect each participant's choices, culture, privacy, home and preferred way of communicating.
Arrive on time. In addition, communicate early if an issue may affect an agreed shift.
Listen carefully, ask useful questions and provide clear updates after each service.
Follow professional boundaries and never use a participant relationship for personal gain.
Follow service instructions. However, report any safety concern or change as soon as possible.
Support the participant to make decisions instead of taking control of their routine.
Brisbane service areas
Participant demand can change across Brisbane. Therefore, applicants should list the suburbs and travel distance they can manage.
These locations are examples only. Available shifts depend on active participant needs and suitable worker matching.
Recruitment process
We use a simple process to review your experience, values and documents.
In addition, we check whether your location and availability match current participant needs.
First, send your contact details, suburb, resume, availability and current checks.
Next, answer questions about your experience, vehicle, travel areas and preferred shifts.
Then, suitable applicants may join a phone or video interview with Yirra Care.
After that, send the clearances, certificates and work-right documents needed for the role.
We then compare your skills, location and availability with participant preferences.
Finally, approved workers receive shift details, boundaries, safety notes and reporting steps.
